Considering the foundation and other major things prior to investing money in a kitchen remodel is a HUGE tip...I wish we paid attention to that before our last major kitchen project. We remodeled our kitchen ourselves a few years ago and put in new cabinets & ceramic tile flooring only to discover later the foundation was messed up. It was a really old house (built in the 1920's). Although aesthetically it looked great, I'm afraid the foundation problems far outweigh any improvements we made. We're currently renting the house out, but have been considering selling it outright. I just hope the investment we made wasn't a total waste.

While Danny gently talked about "timing", this is so true! Time goes fast. If you put off, say, a countertop decision, you just may end up with your project completed and having to go many weeks without a countertop, which can be very frustrating. A recent client just waited an extra 6 weeks beyond her cabinetry being installed as a result of postponing this decision! Take that to heart!
